The Reality of Ka’b bin Ashraf

   The story of Ka’b ibn al Ashraf! 
Ka’b bin al Ashraf, was a Jewish leader and he was a very eloquent poet. When the news was carried to Madina of the victory of the Muslims in the battle of Badr and Ka’b ibn al Ashraf heard  of that news he said:

.

If this news is true, then being under the earth is better for us, then being on top of it. Meaning, it is better for us to die. What good is there in living after the Kuffar of Quraysh have been defeated.

And he started making poems in which he would lament the loss of the Mushrikeen and he would also speak against the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the Muslims.

Then he went on to Makkah to present to them his poetry and to also join them in their losses.

And he went further and started mentioning Muslim women in his poetry. So the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said
Who will take care of Ka’b ibn Ashraf because he has harmed Allah and his Messenger?. Muhammad bin Maslamah (may Allah be pleased with him), one of the Ansar from the tribe of Aws said: .I will do so O Messenger of Allah! Do you want me to kill him?

The Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, Yes!

Muhammad bin al Maslamah had now given a promise; he has given his word that he would kill Ka’b ibn Ashraf!

He went back home and started thinking about this and it seemed to be quite a difficult thing. Ka’b ibn Ashraf was living in a fortress, in a Jewish area, surrounded by his supporters, so it was a very, very difficult thing to do! And he became quite concerned about this and his concern prevented him from eating and drinking except from that that would make him survive! For three days he would barely eat or drink anything.

That news reached the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so the

Prophet called him and said .What.s wrong with you, Muhammad ibn Maslamah, is it true that you have stopped eating or drinking?
Muhammad ibn Maslamah said, yes The Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked him .Why?

He said, I have promised you something and I wonder whether I would be successful and able to fulfill it!
The Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) told him
All what you have to do is do your effort and leave the rest on Allah Almighty.

Muhammad ibn Maslamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, O Messenger of Allah, then you will have to allow me to speak against you!

(Part of the plan is that we will have to speak about you in negative terms)

So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, Say whatever you want!

Muhammad bin Maslamah and a small group of Ansar, all from his tribe Aws, went to first visit Ka’b bin Ashraf to set up the trap for him. One of the men with Muhammad was Abu Na’ilah, it is mentioned that he was the foster brother of Ka’b bin al Ashraf.

They told Ka’b .This man has been a test from Allah to us, he has been a problem, he is a

disaster.-they are referring to Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)-.and the

Arabs have all fought us and taken us as enemies because of him.

Ka’b told him .I already told you so, and you are going to see even worse times.

Muhammad ibn al Maslamah said .Well we want to wait and see how all of this will end. He is now trying to build rapport with him- .So Ka’b, our financial situation has deteriorated because of this man, we want to borrow from you some bargain and we want to leave you a guarantee!

He said, .Well, leave me your children.
They said, .We leave you our children and for the rest of their lives people will tell them that your parents have put you in for a small amount of bargain, it will be shame on them for the rest of their lives!

He said .Then you leave with me your women.

They said .How can we leave our women with you and you are the most handsome man? But we will bring with us and leave with you our weapons!

He said .Fine!

Muhammad bin Maslamah set him up so that next time when they would bring their weapons with them, he would not be suspicious.

So they set an appointment and they came back to him and they called him late at night, as it was the right time.

His wife told him .I can smell blood in this voice! 

He said don’t worry this is Muhammad ibn Maslamah my friend, and it is my brother Abu

Na.ilah.. So it shows there was some good relationship between them, there was friendship since the time of Ignorance.

So he went down to meet them, Muhammad ibn Maslamah set up a sign with his companions he told them .When you see me grab at his head, then tear him apart with your swords.. This was the sign.

So Ka’b came down and they told him .What about we go walking to Sh.b al A.jooz and spend our night over there talking?.

He said .Fine.

So they were able to drag him away from his fortress, to this faraway place called Sh.b al A.jooz.

And when they reached there, Muhammad ibn Maslamah told Ka’b,.Wow! This smell that is coming from you is so beautiful! (He had musk or some other perfume in his hair)

Can I smell it?

He said, .Yes, go ahead!

So Muhammad ibn Maslamah put his hand in his head and pulled it towards him and smelled it.

He said it’s wonderful! (This was a test- a trial)

The next time, he told him .Can you let me smell it again?

He said, .Yes, go ahead!.

He grabbed him and the swords started striking at Ka’b ibn Ashraf. But they were not sufficient to kill him and he screamed for help. All the fortresses were lit up in a moment. Muhammad ibn

Maslamah said, .I remembered that I had a dagger with me so I pulled it out and I stuck it in his stomach and pulled it down until it hit the pubic bone and then we left!.

This is how Muhammad ibn Maslamah and his men from Aws dealt with the one who cursed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! 

5- Sahih Bukhari 5:369
Ibn Taymiyah mentions this story in his book .AsSarim al Maslool ala Shatim arRasool. The drawn sword on the one who curses the Messenger, And he mentions a few things, which we will go through.

First of all, he brings a narration from Al Waqidi one of the scholars of Seerah. Al Waqidi talks about the consequences of what happened, as this was a very powerful and special operation the consequences of which were great. It sent a ripple among the Jewish community and the disbelieving community that was surrounding Madina!

So Al Waqidi says: The Jews mobilized along with Mushrikeen and came to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) in the morning and said, .Our man who was one of our noble men and leaders was assassinated last night!

They said Qutila Ghilah and .Ghilah means assassination and this word also has some negative connotations because it means that the person was killed and taken by surprise, he didn’t know about it, it wasn’t a duel, it wasn’t a one-on-one, he was killed in secret without him knowing about it!

They said .He was assassinated without committing any crime!

Why was Ka’b bin al Ashraf killed, that was their question put to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him), because there was an agreement between the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) and all of the Jews. It’s well known in Seerah that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) came to Madina he had a peace agreement with all of the Jews.

Now Ka’b ibn al Ashraf was killed, WHY? HOW COME THAT HAPPENED? What did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) say? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) said:

.If he had calmed down, like others who follow his opinion or are on the same opinion as his have calmed down, he wouldn’t have been assassinated! But he has harmed us and he has defamed us with his poetry, and none of you would do this except we would deal with him with the sword!

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) is saying that there are many who have in their hearts the same belief as Ka’b bin Ashraf; he wasn’t killed because of that! So he was not killed because of his disbelief, he was not killed because he hated the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him); he was not killed because he hated the Muslims, NO! There are many people who have that disease in their hearts and we have left them alone. .If he had calmed down like other people calmed down, we wouldn’t have assassinated him. But he spoke against us, he spoke against me and he defamed me with his poetry.

And then he made it clear to the Jews: If any one of you, you the Jews or the Mushrikeen, try to

 As Sarim al Maslool ala shatim ar Rasool (Evidences from the Sunnah on the killing of a Zimmi who curses the Messenger of Allah) defame me through your words this will be the way we deal with you, there is nothing between us and you except the sword! There will be no dialogue, there will be no forgiveness, there will be no building of bridges, there will be no attempts of reconciliation there will be only the sword between me and you, and he made it very clear. And then, he called them to come and sign a document in which they all state their agreement that they will not speak against him.

Ibn Taymiyah says, and this is evidence that harming Allah and his Messenger is a reason to encourage Muslims to kill whoever does that even if they have a contract with the Muslims, even if there is a covenant!
Ibn Taymiyah in his book responds to some of the arguments and doubts that were placed against this Huqm. So he uses this story as an evidence to refute those arguments.

Some people tried to twist the meaning of this hadith and say that Ka’b was killed because he was encouraging the disbelievers to fight against Muhammad (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) and not because of his words.

Ibn Taymiyah says .NO! He was killed because of his poetry which was even before he set out to go to Makkah. So it had nothing to do with him going to Makkah and encouraging them to fight the Muslims, it was specifically because of his poetry!
And then he says,

Everything that Ibn Ashraf did was harm by the tongue. His lamenting of the killed of the disbelievers and his encouraging them to fight, and his cursing and his defamation and his putting down of the religion of Islam and preferring the religion of the disbelievers, all of this were words by the tongue. And he did not do anything that included physical fighting of the believers and what he did was harmed the Muslims with his tongue. And this is a Hujjah. This is evidence against anyone who would argue in these issues. And it is clear that the blood of such a person who harms Allah and his Messenger by poetry and defamation is not protected by any means.

China to expand marine corps for deployment in Gwadar

BEIJING: China is set to increase the number of its marine corps from 20,000 to one lakh as part of plans to deploy them overseas for the first time, including at the strategic Gwadar port in Pakistan and military logistics base in Djibouti in the Indian Ocean.

The expansion is planned to protect China’s maritime lifelines and its growing interests overseas, Hong-Kong based South China Morning Post reported today.

 Some members would be stationed at ports China operates in Djibouti and Gwadar in southwest Pakistan, Chinese military insiders and experts were quoted as saying.

Gwadar port is a deep-sea port next to the Strait of Hormuz, the key oil route in and out of the Persian Gulf, built with Chinese funding and operated by mainland firms.
Although the port is not home to any PLA installation, navy ships are expected to dock at the facility in the near future, the report said.

Gwadar also connects the $46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) through PoK with China’s Xinjiang.
Reports from Pakistan said the country itself is setting up Special Security Division comprising 15,000 troops, including 9,000 Pakistan Army soldiers and 6,000 para-military forces personnel to protect CPEC and Chinese personnel.
The expanded Chinese marine corps is part of a wider push to refocus the world’s largest army away from winning a land war based on sheer numbers and towards meeting a range of security scenarios using highly specialised units, the report said.
Towards that end, Chinese President Xi Jinping is reducing the size of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) by three lakh, with nearly all of the cuts coming from the land forces, it said.
For this, two brigades of special combat soldiers had already been moved to the marines, nearly doubling its size to 20,000, and more brigades would be added, the report said.
“The PLA marines will be increased to 100,000, consisting of six brigades in the coming future to fulfil new missions of our country,” it quoted a source as saying.

The size of the navy would also grow 15 per cent from its current estimated size of 2.35 lakh personnel.
China this year plans to increase its defence spending by about seven per cent to $152 billion. Much of it was expected to go to the navy as China plans to spread its influence far from its shores.
Traditionally, marines have mostly operated only in China’s coastal areas, as their role was limited by their relatively small numbers and basic equipment, Beijing-based naval expert Li Jie said.
But a bigger corps could be deployed much farther afield as the navy takes on more challenges.

To Donald Trump, President of the United States of America!

Availing this opportunity of understanding arisen due to the presidential change of your country, I wish to share with you a few realities about the ongoing war in Afghanistan.

The war launched on Afghanistan by your troops has completed its fifteenth year, is the longest war in your history (still prolonging) and has caused human and material losses to both sides.

You, being chosen as the elected President of the United States and having to carry the burden of responsibility for all aspects of this war, must ask what is the end goal of this war? Everyone understands that wars are not waged for the sake of war but as a means to an end.

If your goal is the permanent occupation of Afghanistan, oppressing this nation, forcing a rule upon them then using the land, air space and other resources of this country for your own interests; then you must learn from past experiments and understand that such dreams can never materialize because to do so you must first guarantee stability for your soldiers and the servile regime before using the air and land for your vested interests. However historical experiences, the nature of this land and its people and most importantly, the past 15 years have proven that it is impossible to provide safety for foreign forces or quell the armed religious and national resistance against it.

Come let us unwaveringly accept that our nation has waged a historically successful struggle against a foreign invasion over the past 15 years. Our people did not have the material, military, logistical or even the official moral support of any nation.

Tens of countries allied in this occupation used military, political, propaganda and every other means available to breakdown our lawful resistance but as our Jihad and struggle was legitimate religiously, intellectually, nationally and conforming to all other lawful standards and because our nation believes in it to the extent of sacrosanctity, therefore the invaders failed to pacify this resistance despite having a lopsided military advantage. In the end, many officials of the countries allying with the occupation recognized that they are not fighting some rebellious group, rather they are at war with an entire nation. Hence they embraced this reality, opened channels of dialogue and understanding with the Islamic Emirate and slowly began pulling their troops out of this illegal, ineffective and aimless war.
Elected President of the United States!

The Afghans, as a nation ravaged by war for thirty eight long years, sincerely want to bring this war to an end however they know – despite whatever reasons for previous wars – that the principle cause for the ongoing conflict is the presence of foreign occupying forces in our independent country. To bring an end to this war feeding on the blood of your and our people, you must further understand the geography and nature of this war through the following clarifications. 

First: As a nation of the Asian continent, Afghanistan boasts of regionally having the longest history of independence and freedom. That this nation has been invaded the most and has somehow emerged sound from these disasters while the dangers of occupation and disintegration have not harmed it, one of the reasons is because the independence of this nation, its territorial integrity and defense of national interests is dependent upon its people and not on individuals, groups and governments. This nation holds its sovereignty dear above any estimations and considers itself the true and undisputed owner of this geography.

Second: The Afghan nation considers the independence of their country as their lawful right and firmly believes it can safeguard and manage its own homeland. History does not recall a time when the security and interests of others were threatened from the land and airspace of this country. Our country remained neutral in both the First and Second World Wars and did not aid or ally with any side. Our country also remained a member of non-aligned nations during the Cold War.

This fear of people viewing our country being used as a potential strategic theater by rivals or being involved in a great game is unfounded. We want to take a breath of serenity in our country after long wars and heal the wounds of our nation. Our nation will not accept the military presence of western colonialists just as it refused the military presence of eastern colonialists.

Third: Just as our people do not hold the intention of harming others, they reciprocally will not accept harm by others. You understand that our country is the poorest from amongst the so-called third world countries. The only asset that our persecuted nation holds is a free and independent country retained through the ages with a lot of blood and sacrifice. Our nation is ready for every sacrifice in defense of this asset and values its preservation above every estimation. We fought against the English for more than half a century from the end of the 19th century and beginning of 20th century for this exact aim (acquiring independence). In defense of our country, we offered over 1.5 million martyrs against the Soviet invasion.

Looking at the above, it would be naive for someone to think that they can force our nation to accept their invasion and rule or that they can exhaust our nation by prolonging this war. Our nation considers fighting for its rights as a great honor and the pinnacle of heroism and they do not see dying in this path as death, but as eternal life.

Fourth: Your previous administrations have tried to portray the armed resistance against occupation in Afghanistan as mere rebellion, being led by a few supposed ‘terrorists’ who do not have the backing of the people. However after witnessing fifteen years of realities and the ever expanding resistance, there should be no doubts left that this war is the unified uprising of all ethnicities across Afghanistan and not the work of a small group or a few individuals. The leadership of this uprising, as a governing system, is in the hands of the Islamic Emirate. The Islamic Emirate is not some unsupported terror spreading fighting group, rather it is an orderly and well-grounded movement of the people which carries with itself a rational and understandable agenda for its warfare, politics and lawful cause.

The Islamic Emirate has justification and rationale for its every action and reaction. That is why it is gaining international political legitimacy every day and on top of regional countries, maintains relations with various countries around the world including with the United Nations and various other bodies. The Islamic Emirate – as a governing body – is the only movement among the current political sides of Afghanistan to have popular and countrywide support of the people. It has deep roots in all the ethnic communities of Afghanistan, currently rules over fifty percent of Afghanistan, influences a further thirty percent and can threaten the enemy rule established by your troops and Kabul regime in the remaining twenty percent at any given moment.

It is due to this reason that many countries regionally and globally have arrived at a conclusion that it is this nationally supported political-military power (Islamic Emirate) which they should interact and come to an understanding with as a responsible future entity of this country because the other groups and individuals have risen only through foreign support and do not have any foundations among the people.

Fifth: The people serving in the current regime under your support calling themselves the government of Afghanistan, can never represent this nation and neither do the people have any trust in them. These people, who earn the dishonor of most corrupt regime in the world annually, are not loyal to anything except their own material interests.

An illustration of their disloyalty towards their country and people is the saga of Kabul Bank where the savings of the poor workers, teachers, laborers and working class were siphoned off by the high-ranking officials of this very regime that built their accounts and businesses with it overseas.

On top of embezzling international aid, these corrupt officials have also looted the wealth of their own people, having usurped thousands of hectares of land, and are embroiled in theft, banditry, administrative corruption, immorality and organized crimes. Therefore they are not trusted by the people and neither can you impose them upon the nation any longer through threat of force and violence.

Sixth: There is a consensus in the country, regionally and even internationally that the war in Afghanistan is not in the interest of anyone. We, as a party of the conflict on whom this war has been imposed and whose country has come under direct military invasion, consider it our responsibility to deliver our persecuted and oppressed nation from the flames of war. It is on these basis that we send you our message to control this war of occupation launched by your military. Do not exert any further efforts into turning Afghans and the children of America into sacrificial animals for an unwinnable war.

In recent times all international research and analysis institutes agree that the American military mission in Afghanistan has reached a slowly deteriorating stalemate. If the American forces insist on continuing the occupation of our country and preventing us from living an honorable and free life then obviously, war is our necessity and at the same time our lawful right. But perhaps this futile war is not your necessity. In such a state it is the responsibility of American officials, as the initiators of war, to bring an end to this tragedy. We call it a tragedy because it is due to your soldiers and your sponsored militias that our sinless children, women and innocent youth are killed daily throughout the country and they continue to lose their homes, businesses, hospitals and farms. It is due to the barbaric airstrikes of your army that whole villages are turned into graveyards like in the case of Kunduz and the Afghan people endure their lives in a climate of fear and terror due to your night raids and bombings. Just as this war has proven fruitless for you both militarily and politically, it has also morphed into a mark of shame for you morally and ethically where it is either your own soldiers or armed gangs under your patronage that are regularly implicated in war crimes.

President of America! 

Perhaps some contents of this letter will prove bitter for your taste. But since they are realities and tangible facts, they must be accepted and treated as bitter medicine that is taken by patients out of fear of seeing their condition deteriorate.

The Myth of Euphrates Shield 

​Shaikh Abu Muhammed al Maqdisi  explains Euphrates Shield 

Euphrates Shield has become a Russian and Bashar Shield. 

Today Russia has announced publicly that it has launched joint air raids with Turkey against the group ISIS in the city of Al Bab, and that it was coordinated with Bashar’s regime! 

So the alliance is between the Khalifa of those who water down the religious principles, and with Putin and Bashar! 

At present it is against the group ISIS, and soon it will be against JFS and the others.

Therefore, those who issued Fatwas permitting the participation in the Euphrates Shield should revise their Fatwa and absolve themselves from it.

Their Fatwa permitting it (Euphrates Shield) has become the Sheild for Bashar and Putin! So they must not be arrogant and bury their heads in the sand.

Retreating back to the truth is better than persisting in falsehood. 

“O ye who believe! Guard your duty to Allah, and speak words straight to the point” (Surah Ahzaab) 

Apostasy in Modern Jihad 

​The Muslim Ummah has been struck by a calamity, the ripple effects of which are felt throughout the world. From Afghanistan to Somalia, and from Somalia to Yemen the Muslims are subjected to the brutal aggression of the forc-es of Kufr. In Iraq the bloodthirsty Rãfidah militias and death squads, supported by the US and its allies, continue to unleash untold horrors against the Sunni population. The Rus-sian army, in cohorts with the oppressive Alawi regime of Bashar Al-Assad and his Iranian backers, continue to massacre the Muslims of Syria, innocent men, women and children whose cry is … “Our Lord, take us out of this city of oppressive people and appoint for us from Yourself a protector and appoint for us from Yourself a helper?” [An-Nisã’: 75]Jihãd in the Cause of Allãh U is the only means through which the aggression of these criminals can be repelled, thus Imãm Al-Qutub (ra) commented on this verse stat-ing that “Allãh made Jihãd compulsory in order to elevate His Word, make His religion victorious, and to liberate the weak believers from among His slaves, even if that involves the loss of lives. To free the (Muslim) prisoners is obligatory upon the Muslim community, either by fighting or by (paying the) ransom.”  It is during the times of calamity that the true nature of people is revealed, and it is in the fields of Jihãd that the sincere believer is distinguished from the evil hypocrite. Indeed, “Allãh will not leave the believers in the state in which you are now, until He distinguishes the wicked from the good.” [Ali ‘Imrãn: 179] Meaning, He allows a calamity to happen, and during this calamity His friend becomes known and His enemy exposed, the patient be-liever recognized and the sinful hypocrite revealed. [Tafsir Ibn Kathir] Commenting on the same verse Qatadah said, “He distinguished between them in Jihãd and Hijrah.”The calamity that has befallen the people of Shãm has ex-posed the hypocrisy and Kufr of a number of groups that profess Islãm and who claim to be fighting under its ban-ner on behalf of its people. They are those about whom Allãh U said “They enjoin what is wrong and forbid what is right.” [At-Tawbah: 67] Thus they fight under the banner of democracy and secularism and denounce those who strive for the implementation of the divine Shari’ah. And since “They wish you would disbelieve as they have dis-believed so you would be alike” [An-Nisã’: 89] they call the Muslims of Syria to join and support them in their acts of apostasy.Professing Islãm on one hand while fighting under the banner of Kufr on the other, these apostate groups give their allegiance to the enemies of Islãm and its people, namely the US and its allies, and thus enjoy their aid and support. Indeed, “They try to deceive Allãh and those who believe, while they only deceive themselves, and perceive (it) not!” [Al-Baqarah: 9] Such groups have fallen into apostasy from two angles, both of which were mentioned by Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Abdil-Wahhab as nullifiers of Islãm:  1.The belief that the guidance of someone other than the Prophet ﷺ is more perfect than his guidance; or that the ruling of other than the Prophet ﷺ is better than his ruling; [or the permissibility of accepting the ruling from other than what Allah has revealed].Thus, any group that fights under the banner of democracy and secularism has fallen into apostasy, as democracy is “the rule (governance) of the people, for the people, by the people”, the implication of which is that in a democratic society the people themselves are the ultimate source of legislation and governance, as opposed to Allãh U. Democracy is therefore a system of Tughyãn (transgres-sion); hence it is compulsory upon every Muslim to dis-believe in it and to reject it, as the High Most says: “Have you not seen those who claim that they believe in that which was revealed to you, and that which was sent down before you? They wish to refer to at-Tãghūt for judgment while they have been ordered to disbelieve in it. But Shaytãn wishes to lead them far astray.” [An-Nisã’: 60] This verse indicates that referring to the Tãghūt for judge-ment is an act that nullifies Īmãn and contradicts it, hence Īmãn is not sound except by disbelieving in Tãghūt and abandoning referring to it for judgment.Moreover, Allãh U declares whoever fights on behalf of the Tãghūt as disbelievers, as is clear from His statement: “Those who believe, fight in the Cause of Allãh, and those who disbelieve fight in the cause of at-Taghūt. So fight you against the friends of Shaytãn. Ever feeble indeed is the plot of Shaytãn.” [An-Nisã’: 76] The Kufr and apostasy of any group that fights under the banner of democracy and secularism is thus clear. 2. Backing or supporting the polytheists and aid-ing them against the Muslims. The evidence of this is the Saying of Allah, the Most High: “O you who have be-lieved, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you – then indeed, he is [one] of them.” {Mã’idah: 51}This act of apostasy occurs as a result of accepting ‘help’ and ‘assistance’ from the Kuffār to oppose those from among the Muslims who are deemed to be ‘Islãmic ex-tremists’. They are those referred to by the former Prime Minister of Britain Tony Blair as ‘the fringe’ that must be fought and destroyed, as “it is hard to envisage compro-mise with such people. They have no reasonable de-mands upon which we can negotiate. This is not like Irish Republicanism.” [The Way Ahead] The West and its allies seek to destroy any group that fights to establish the Islãmic Sharī’ah, using both direct and indirect means. Aiding and supporting groups that they consider to be ‘moderate Muslims’ to fight against those labelled ‘extremists’ is just one of the methods em-ployed by these enemies of Islãm in order to achieve this aim. The divine texts are replete with evidence indicating the apostasy of the Muslim who allies himself with the Kuffār and aids them against the Muslims. Shaykh ibn Baz said in his Fatawã (1/274) that “The scholars of Islām have gathered in agreement (Ijma’) that the one who assists the Kuffār against the Muslims and helps them with any type of assistance, then he is a Kāfir like them. As Allah the Most High said: … whoever is an ally to them among you – then indeed, he is [one] of them.” Contemporary history provides a number of examples of such acts of apostasy occurring in the lands of Jihãd. For instance, during the Soviet-Afghan Jihād, Muslims that were part of the former communist government chose to remain on the side of the communists when the Jihād started. Subsequently, they fought the Mujāhidīn along-side the Russian communist invaders.  There is no sin that one can commit, after his Islãm, than to turn back from this blessed religion.  Although Jihãd is the greatest deed after Imãn it does not grant those who carry arms under its banner an excuse to commit acts of apostasy.  Rather, Allãh  U  states that  “whoever of you reverts from his religion and dies while he is a disbeliever – for those, their deeds have become worthless in this world and the Hereafter, and those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.” [Al-Baqarah: 217] Thus Allãh  U  does not accept the ‘Jihãd’ of the apostates as  He  states  that  “their  deeds  have  become  worthless  in this world and the Hereafter”. Allãh  U  has informed the believers that the Kuffãr wage a relentless war of aggression against them, stating that they  “will  continue  to  fight  you  until  they  turn  you  back from your religion if they are able.” [Al-Baqarah: 217]. Sayyid Qutb (ra) comments in his  Tafsir: “This campaign never abates or relaxes. Fresh impetus is added at every stage,  and  greater  resources  are  deployed  whenever deemed necessary.”  The apostates are an important weapon  in  the  Kãfir’s  arsenal,  as  he  utilises  them  to  fight against the Mujahid, in an effort to prevent the establishment of  Allãh’s religion. The harm that these renegades cause is tremendous, due to the fact that they don the garments of Islãm and thus enjoy support from Muslims who have, unsuspectingly, been deceived by their lies. However,  Allãh  U  has provided the believers with a perfect solution, one that serves  to  cleanse  their  ranks  from  the  scourge  of  the apostates. He  U  says:  “ … if they turn away, then seize them  and  kill  them  wherever  you  find  them  and  take  not from among them any ally or helper.” [An-Nisa: 89] The noble Prophet of Islãm  ﷺ  also said:  “Whoever changes his religion (from Islãm), kill him.” [Sahih al-Bukhari]. The  apostate  groups  are  thus  faced  with  one  option, if they are to save themselves from the swords of the believers,  “…  And the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and more enduring.” [Tã Hã: 127], and that is to repent and return to the fold of Islām, by disbelieving in and rejecting the religion of the Kuffãr (democracy and secularism) and desisting from aiding them against the Mujãhidīn and the Muslims whose religion and honour they fight to defend. “But if  they  repent, perform  the prayer  and give the Zakãh, then they are your brethren in religion. (In this way)  We explain the  Verses in detail for a people who know.” [At-Tawbah: 11]
